Minecraft Circle Generator

Enter a diameter and get a block-by-block chart for a perfect Minecraft circle or oval. Switch between thin, thick and filled, then build row by row.

Brighter lines mark every 5 blocks. Yellow lines mark the center.

How to use the circle generator

  1. Pick a diameter. Type the width of the circle in blocks, or tap one of the quick sizes. For an oval, untick "Same width and height" and set both values.
  2. Choose a style. Thick is best for walls, Thin uses fewer blocks, and Filled gives you a solid disc for floors and roofs.
  3. Mark the center in your world. Place a block where you want the middle of the circle. The yellow lines in the chart show where the center is.
  4. Build one quarter, then mirror it. Circles are symmetric, so count the blocks in one quarter from the center outward and repeat the same steps in the other three directions.

Tips for building round

  • Odd or even? An odd diameter (like 21) has one center block. An even diameter (like 20) has a 2×2 center. Odd sizes are easier to line up with doors and paths.
  • Count with the grid. The brighter lines every 5 blocks make it quick to count long straight runs on big circles.
  • Use temporary markers. Lay the outline in a cheap block like dirt or wool first, check it from above, then replace it with your final material.
  • Going up? For towers repeat the same circle on every layer. For domes and spheres, use the sphere & dome generator, which changes the circle on each layer for you.

Frequently asked questions

What size circle should I build in Minecraft?

For towers and small rooms, diameters between 9 and 21 look round without using too many blocks. Below about 7 blocks every circle looks like a rounded square. For arenas and large bases, 31 to 61 looks smooth. Odd diameters have a single center block, which makes it easier to line up doors, pillars and paths.

What is the difference between thin and thick circles?

A thin circle only connects blocks by their sides where needed, so the outline uses the fewest blocks but has diagonal steps you could see through on a wall. A thick circle fills those diagonal steps so the wall is watertight and mob-proof. Use thick for walls and thin for floors, paths and decorative outlines.

Why does my circle look different in other generators?

Every generator has to decide which blocks on the edge count as inside. This tool places a block when the center of that block is inside the ideal circle, which gives even, symmetric results. Other tools may round differently, so edges can differ by one block.

How do I make an oval in Minecraft?

Untick 'Same width and height' and enter a different width and height. The chart shows an ellipse, which is useful for stadiums, ponds and wide towers.

Does this work for Bedrock and Java?

Yes. A circle is just a pattern of blocks, so the chart works in every edition and version, including Pocket Edition and consoles.
